    Dogs behaviour during first heat
    Hi
My dog is 8 months old and is coming up to her 7th day of her first heat.
Although eating is normal, dog is very clingy and very unsettled at night. Barking has increased immensely. Is there anything that would pacify her?

Remember male dogs can smell her 2-3 miles away and she can hear and smell the ones coming around. For an intact dog their purpose is to mate. It drives everything she does until she is out of estrus or pregnant. Hormones can have a huge affect on the mind and body. Try using some lavender oils, massage and soothing music to help calm her.
Also the best option would be to spay her and reduce the risk of breast cancer, eliminate uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, endometritis, and cystic ovaries. Hormones also play a huge role in many other health issues as well.
