Try here:
HP Notebook PCs - Purchasing Additional Memory
This has instructions for determing what RAM you need.
Hi Scott,
Thanks for your reply. I have done that research. The Notebook's maximum memory capacity is 2 Gig. I have 2 slots out of which one slot is preinstalled memory and in the second bank I can add additional memory. The recommended memory is PC 2700 DDR SDRAM 333 Mhz. But I was only curious to know whether adding a DDR2 memory would improve the speed instead of DDR memory? Whether a DDR2 memory can be used in place of DDR memory was my question. Appreciate if you can share your knowledge.
Thanks again
The documentation should list what memory is allowed in the machine. Unless it says that you can use DDR2 I wouldn't imagine you can.
Thanks Scott. Appreciate it.
DDR2 is INCOMPATIBLE with DDR... the notches are in different parts of the memory stick... you can upgrade your pc2700 to pc3200 400fsb just NOT DDR2.. sorry for the bad news... the difference for you that you will notice is because you upgraded the AMOUNT not the speed of your memory... your computer is made to run at 333mhz fsb... using 400mhz fsb will do nothing for you unless you plan to overclock it which I'm thinking you are not going to be doing...
