Honda rotor is melting in distributor
I have a 1990 crx 1.5 liter. The rotor has melted and spun on the shaft twice now. It appears to be getting very hot and then spinning. The coil is inside the distributor. Is this the cause of the heat or could it be something else?
    Thanks roy

If the ignition system is not well-maintained (spark plugs, spark plug wires, rotor, and distributor cap), high secondary voltage will discharge into components, as electricity will always take the easiest path to ground. The same problem can develop, if spark plug wires are not properly seated in the distributor cap, which may have been what happened in your situation.

I think there is a bearing at the bottom of the distributer. It could be overheating.
