Mortgage Debt Collection practices
Time is of the essence with this question.
Our mortgage company has been told in writing that we wish to conduct ALL business with them in WRITING only after numerous mistakes have been made with our account.
Not only are they ignoring this, they are constantly calling my mother wanting to know where we live, what our phone number is etc. They have all this information.
NOW, they are calling our neighbors! People we don't even know! This lady came to my door to tell me that this company called her and asked if she knew us. She said no. Instead of leaving it at that, he proceeded to give her our address (and heaven knows what else)!
So, now a woman who we don't know and do not interact with at all knows that we are behind on our mortgage. Doesn't that violate some kind of debt collection law? Even if they tell her it is an attempt to collect a debt?
What can we do? If we need an attorney what kind of attorney?
