Help, I bought this great retro cocktail table and side table beautiful dark veneer inlay wood. How do I clean and protect these so cool pieces. P.S. My mom in a helpful moment sprayed goo gone on a spot to remove tape. Now its damaged. These pieces survived the 70's and I had it less than an hour before it was damaged. Any ideas.

Once it's damaged, there's not much you can do but replace the veneer. Veneer is not solid wood throughout, therefore, sanding and refinishing is not an option. I'd take it to a professional, see what they can do. This is not something you want to try unless you are experienced with veneers and the removal and replacement of veneers.

I'm not sure what you mean by "damaged". Do you mean that the Goo Gone removed some of the existing finish or something else, please? If it's just a color difference, then all you might need to do is to touch up the spot that is damaged. Also, would it be possible for you to provide a few images of the pieces here of the whole pieces as well as at least one close-up?

I have been professionally refinishing, repairing, veneering and re-veneering furniture since about 1980. If you post the images, it would be much easier to help you then if we were to just discuss things without really knowing what we are dealing with without seeing the furniture.

Yes I go along with clough on this one... you can get all kinds of coloured wood stain touch ups, you just need to match the right colour.

They are very good and simple to use.
