Im dillon, and I was recently at my friends house but then I started walking to meet up with my other friend with a beer in my hand. A cop pulled up next to me and after that I got arrested. I only have 50 days left until I can get my license and that's all I have been looking forward to, so my question is can they suspend my license for that, even though I wasn't drunk and that was my only beer, AND I wasn't even driving I only have my permit. Please let me know because its important!!

If the law says they can, then yes. You were drinking, and you are underage. You don't need to be drunk or driving to meet those criteria. So yes, you may have just delayed getting your license for another six months. I feel that I should point out that this is something you did to yourself. You know that it's illegal to drink at your age, so if you choose to do so, then you can't complain about the consequences catching up with you.

Not only can they suspend your license, they can block your getting it. I'm pretty sure they will do a background check before they issue you a license.

Sorry, but I think you will be waiting a bit longer for that license. But then drivers in NJ will feel a little safer.

In the state of New Jersey if you are caught underage drinking they can take your license until you turn 21 years of age. My brothers friend just went through it.
