Temp custody does NOT mean that you get "first dibs" on adoption.

If you want to adopt the child, get a lawyer, and start taking the right steps towards adoption--you don't just pick a baby and adopt, you know.

Why do you have temp custody, is it though the court ? How did you get the child. But you need to get an attorney and file for custody

You need to get a lawyer and then convince the Judge WHY he is better off with you.
If he is older and in school using his established school, routine, friends and familiar surroundings may help. If he is an infant or toddler then it may be harder. If you are family that may help too. But basically it is all up to the court.
