Foreclosure house-went to replace a ceiling fixture and ceiling has black,white,ground and red and new fixture has a black wire that splits into two black wires and one ground. How do you hook this up? Thanks

How many switches? Sounds like originally had fan/light fixture. Anything to distinguish one black wire of fixture from other?
