    Vertical or Horizontal Hair Layering
    Hi,

I have medium length hair that is course and wavy and at times frizzy. I want to get layers in my hair but I'm not sure if I should get horizontal or vertical layers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

Ask your stylist for long graduation. This sort of layer starts short from the crown (Not very short, and you can choose how short or long you want it) and goes longer. If that makes sense. Lol.
This sort of layer helps reduce bulk and makes your hair more manageable.

Maybe you can help me too, I had a very short cut for around 25 years. The last time it was long was late 70s with a Farrah-ish layered cut. I've let it grow for about 3 years now(except for trims) and it is mostly one length. Sides are slightly shorter than the back.
I am white if that helps.

I would describe my hair as naturally curly, wavy, frizzy, and dry. I have used every product coming down the pike to condition. Even wrapped my head in a plastic bag for deep heat conditioning. Heat helps some as in hot rollers, blow drying in SMALL sections, and flat iron SOMETIMES. The flat iron tends to make it have brittle looking ends. Short hair worked okay for me because I could manage it and blow it out pretty well.

I want to keep longer hair but I think it will "behave" better if it is in many layers. Especially if it is much shorter around the bang area and on top of my crown. In the growing out process, I noticed it curled prettier in shorter layers. How can I have the shorter layers on the top and still have the max length over all. BTW, with this mostly one length that I have now, the sides of my crown (right above the ears)are too puffy.

I think I could have more sane hair with lots of layers but I never seem to be able to convey this correctly to the hairdresser. What should I tell her? Should I also ask for the graduated cut?

I'm sorry this is so long, but from previous post, I can tell you know what you are talking about. Any advice would be very much appreciated.;)
