I don't want to be married to my work.
Since I have started working, I have hardly had time to hang out with my friends...

Most of them have left the States, a few of them are here but I feel distance from them... b/c I am more ambitious than them and they are way too laid back.

I am excited on weekdays because I am working and accomplishing things. Work is like my life now and I feel depressed if I am not working.

My friend says that I am married to my work! I don't want a life full of work and work related thoughts, but I do LOVE the work I do.

    What do I do now?

You find time for yourself to find things that interest you outside of work.Maybe get involved in some things where you can socialize and do something productive or constructive like hobbies, sports, etc...

I personally don't find anything wrong with loving what you do... and actually being good at it, as long as you're happy with it. Do find the time to get out every once in a while, but I wouldn't care if anyone said I was a workahaulic... kinda take it as a compliment.

Balance your life with other things you love, and people you enjoy being with. Make time for them. What do you like to do when your not at work??

Most people do not find the work that they love to do. So congrats on enjoying your work. Do not let anybody tell you there is anything wrong with that.

I study another business language that is work related...

Even my boss says I should go out and have a drink. The problem, I don't find it interesting to drink. It is just a waste of money.

I want to spend time with people that share similar goals, but I don't know where to find them. I like to hang out with wise and ambitious people, I do talk to them(they are my coworkers) a lot on weekdays... but on weekends they are busy with their family and such.

I am alone on weekends... I even go to the office sometimes...

I can understand that. I prefer doing constructive/productive things to.
I only like going to bars to hear a band play or for good food occasionally.
It is hard to come up with ideas for you not really knowing your interests and the things around you that you might have an interest in.
I will try to think of something.

Non-profits especially are always looking for volunteers. Volunteer at a hospital or a public library or a nursing home or a church or an animal shelter. Volunteers are needed on weekends too. I'm the volunteer coordinator at a library and would put you to work processing video games or DVDs or books or magazines, preparing homebound patron reading lists for the next delivery, pulling off the shelf books that haven't been checked out for five years or more, checking the Public Library Catalog before we delete books, cleaning/repairing DVDs and CDs, washing children's department toys, inventorying the supplies cabinet, etc. There is always something to do at the library or at one of the other places I mentioned. It will give you something to do on weekends (all we ask for is two hours of your time once a week), teach you some new skills, and give you an opportunity to help your community.

I want to change that but... let me tell you more about myself.
For years I focused only on academics/career accomplishment because I've had to. I grew up poor and my family are still under proverty. I graduated high school without ever going on a date, and was happy because I got into a top school with a scholarship. I worked hard so I've got this job that many people have been dreaming to have.

My biggest fear is that I'm too stuck in the way that I think about work always coming first. Will this keep me from seeing anything else as possible? I want a family and I want to marry, but first I have to actually meet and date men and I don't know how to do that. My college friends who have all graduated just sent me a message this afternoon saying they misses me, want me to hang out with them. BUT, you know? They like to drink and are not goal oriented at all. I know there might be guys that like me at work, but it's my WORK, if I am not careful ( like having a relationship at work) I might have to lose my JOB! It is not wise to date at work, you know!

P.S. I never had a boyfriend and I am not some materialistic woman that only wants to make money, I have a hard time spending money too.

Perhaps you'll have nothing to say, but I love AMHD and am interested in your ideas.

CFZD, take baby steps as you open up your life to new possibilities. Volunteer work would be one of those baby steps. Joining a library book discussion group that meets in the evening would be a baby step. Taking a fun class like art or writing at your local community college would be a baby step. Joining a local club like a cooking club or a hiking club would be a baby step. You would be doing exciting things, be meeting interesting people, and would have new things to talk about.

Btw, I totally love my job and would be at work 24/7 if I could, but I have taken those baby steps to get a life away from my job. Now, take one baby step.

Wondergirl is right, take small steps to slowly build a social life, and volunteering is a great way to get out of self, and be useful, and productive. I understand staying away from the party crowd, at the meat markets, but volunteering will open you to a whole new class of people, and activities. Give it a try, you just might enjoy it.
