Underground wiring - well pump
Hi
I am trying to run this AWG 6-2CU UF-B underground feeder cable from the basement to an outdoor well pump controller. This is a three wire (two isolated + ground) cable that is to be connected at 240Vac from the main panel and routed out for about 200ft. The controller is supposed to limit the current to 20A.
I had the 18" deep outdoor trench dug, and I would like to protect the cable on most of its outdoor length.
I read however some post (not on thi site) stating that one cannot run underground wire through conduit on the entire length of the cable because of possible cable outgasing. I still want my cable protected though, for future landscaping projects.
1. If I want to use some plastic pipe to protect the cable how often should I cut the pipe then? 2. What less expensive options do I have trying to protect the underground cable?
I am also contemplating running in the same trench (at 8” depth though) an irrigation pipe.
3. Would this create any issue from an NECode stand point?
Thank you for help
