Lost job and medical problems mounting is bankruptcy my only option
I lost my job and because of current and new medical problems can not find another job. I just got a call Friday saying if I was not there in thirty minutes they were filing a warrant. Before any more of my debts get to this I was hoping to find out what my options were and if bankruptcy was my only option what do I need to do. I live in Tennessee. Thanks for your time and advice in advance:confused:

    Hello g:

Well, a LOT more goes into the decision than what you've allowed us to learn. Bankruptcy MAY or MAY NOT be appropriate for you. A visit to a bankruptcy attorney will put you waaaaay ahead, and you shouldn't be charged for it either.

I can tell you this much; nobody can take out a warrant if you don't pay your bills. It's even illegal for them to threaten to do so. Google the "Fair Debt Collection Practices Act".

I answered your other posts on another thread -

The warrant is being issued for fraud, not for inability to pay your bills.

Certainly you can file in bankruptcy if you qualify but it is not going to change the criminal charges against you.

My concern is that you have three open threads, all different, very different material info.

You are not helping yourself and you are taking up the time of people who honestly are trying to help you - or someone else.

Read the other posts when you get a minute - this is definitely not the whole story. Not paying bills is mostly definitely not the cause of this warrant. It's a criminal bad check charge.

100% correct info based on the info posted. Unfortunately, the info posted is not the situation.

Ok, don't know abouit the fruad issue, you can not get rid of fines, or money do someone for fraud in a bankruptcy. So if you have debts for those it will not help. YOu can not go to jail for not paying your bills ( excpet for taxes and fines and money due the court)

But at this point if you are not working and have a lot of debts, don't worry about filing until you get a job and are ready to start over again, since it would seem you may have a lot more debts as long as you are not working
