    Leasing Problems
I just signed a lease for August 29th at an apartment complex. I have not received any keys yet for the place so I have even walked into the front door. Within 8 hours of signing the lease a family member had passed away and I can no longer live there. Is there anyway out of it?

    Hello Brian:

Legally, no. But, if you tell the landlord your problem, he SHOULD let you out. If you gave them a deposit you may lose that.

First not sure what a family member dying has to do with you not being able to live there??

But no, you are bound to the lease and have to honor it, you can talk to the landlord and see if they will let you out of it, and/or what amount of money they may settle for to let you out.
