Correct. But you seemed to be reducing this to bridling the teacher. Whereas, St. James is talking about bridling the tongue in every situation:
St. James 4 8 But the tongue no man can tame, an unquiet evil, full of deadly poison. 9 By it we bless God and the Father: and by it we curse men, who are made after the likeness of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

As you see DeMaria, we differ in what is opinon of being said. The offend of word, is that Christ is the WORD, and what many things we offend, bridle [not to] offend Christ the WORD.
I hope you don't disagree with that. Because Scripture is clear:
Matthew 12 36 But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall render an account for it in the day of judgment.
2 Thessalonians 2 16 Exhort your hearts, and confirm you in every good work and word.
We will be judged by every word that we speak.
Quote:
Eph 4 tells us Eph 4:3-6 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who [is above all], and through all, and in you all.
You all Eph 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
This was done Eph 4:8-10 herefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
There is no mention of different dominations by name, but there by the measure fo gifts given grace of the gift of Christ to Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
Choice goes to follow what Christ has offered as gifts to all. We are all God's children, and we are all loved. We have choice to be one with Christ. The church is the house of God where God is the Pillar. God's house is to be entered giving praise, honor and glory to "ONE" The father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
All that is Catholic Teaching.
Quote:
Yes I agree, and to show that love we serve Him, we follow Him, we exhort Him.
John 12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will [my] Father honour.
1. Serve Christ
2. Follow Christ
3. Where Christ exists
4. We exist in Christ
5. Serve Christ
6. Our Father honor those who serve Christ
Note 1 and 5 are to serve Christ... We our to exhort Christ in all things..
That is correct. But especially by participating in the Bread and the Cup:
1 Corinthians 11 26 For as often as you shall eat this bread, and drink the chalice, you shall show the death of the Lord, until he come.
Quote:
Being baptizes is being one with Christ. Those baptized are given the Holy Spirit which reveals belief or faith in Christ, and baptism gives you grace being dead to sin, and alive with Christ (New Life) opening the door to heaven.
Amen. Baptism is a Tradition of God which we must keep.
Quote:
Christ holds all hope to those that believe in Him.
And belief is proved by obedience:
Romans 1 5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith, in all nations, for his name;
Romans 16 26 (Which now is made manifest by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the precept of the eternal God, for the obedience of faith,) known among all nations;
Quote:
Christ is the Key that opened the door. As a baptized believer one individual becomes one with Christ, a perfecting saint, as was Peter, Paul, phophets,evangelists, pastors, teachers, apostles.. a fellowship in Christ/communian of saints.
None of these are followers of men,
Why yes. Many are followers of men. Being a follower of man does not mean that you don't follow Christ.
Romans 4 12 And might be the father of circumcision; not to them only, that are of the circumcision, but to them also that follow the steps of the faithful, that is in the uncircumcision of our father Abraham.
Hebrews 13 7 Remember your prelates who have spoken the word of God to you; whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation,
1 Cor 11 1 Be ye followers of me, as I also am of Christ.
And that is in accordance with Scripture
Quote:
because none is brought to them by man, but it is brought by Christ. Should you follow man the individual can be deceived because he is not a believer in Truth as it is written of the doctrine in Christ.
The doctrine of Christ says to follow men of the Church. As they follow Christ.
Quote:
Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
2 Kings 22:13 Go ye, enquire of the LORD for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great [is] the wrath of the LORD that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.
These scriptures make it pretty clear as choice to do all that is written in The Word. Christ is the Word. As are those in Revelation
And the Word shall not depart out of thy mouth. Therefore there is no such thing as Scripture alone.
We must believe Scripture and practice the Traditions revealed in Scripture.
We must Teach:
Matthew 28 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world.
Baptize:
Matthew 28 19 Going therefore, teach ye all nations; baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
Eat His Flesh:
John 6 52 If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world.
Drink His Blood:
1 Corinthians 11 25 In like manner also the chalice, after he had supped, saying: This chalice is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as often as you shall drink, for the commemoration of me.
Keep the Feast:
1 Corinthians 5 7 Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new paste, as you are unleavened. For Christ our pasch is sacrificed. 8 Therefore let us feast, not with the old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Remember the Assembly:
Hebrews 10 25 Not forsaking our assembly, as some are accustomed; but comforting one another, and so much the more as you see the day approaching.
So we keep Scripture and Tradition. Not Scripture alone.
Quote:
Revelation1:2-3 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
and keep those things which are written therein
AMEN!!
Quote:
Plus 1 Corinthians 10:1-11 tells us why it was all written so that we would not be ignornant in this earth. It does go on in 1 Corinthians 14:38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
Choice, in mind and heart, I will walk in the light of Christ and with Christ as One.
John 12:35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
John 12:36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
Hebrew 13:15 By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name.
Hebrews 13:21 Make [you perfect] in every good work to do [His will,] working in you that which is wellpleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
I never heard of this phase Sola Scriptura until I visited this forum. But I will note this:
Gal 1:1 Paul, an apostle, [not of men, neither by man,] but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;
Note the intended sufficiency of this statement, not of men, neither by man, but by Christ. We walk in the light of Christ, and we walk with Christ. Putting nothing else on us, other then Christ by choice of Free Will..
My Choice:
I believe in the doctrine of Christ, I go to the House of God to give praise honor, and glory to "ONE"
The Spirit of Truth, Our Father;
The Blood and Saving Grace of The Word, The Son;
The Water of Baptism , The Holy Ghost.
1 John 5: 6-7 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is Truth. 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in ONE.
Christ ' Doctrine
2 John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
John 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
Deu 32:2-4 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God. He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of Truth and without iniquity, just and right [is] He.
Those Who Rule as Man
Hebrews 13:7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the Word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of [their] conversation.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and forever.
Sola Scriptura is the idea that the Bible is the source of all doctrines. Scripture itself doesn't say this, therefore, by its own definition, this is a false doctrine.
Scripture also says that men were appointed to rule over our souls. So, anyone who disobeys these men, disobeys God. Because God tells us to obey them:
Hebrews 13 17 Obey your prelates, and be subject to them. For they watch as being to render an account of your souls; that they may do this with joy, and not with grief. For this is not expedient for you.
Good talking to you.
Sincerely,
De Maria
