    Breaking residential lease
I live in Florida in a 12 month residential lease ending march of 2009. I am recently divorced and now have a court order to relocate with my children to the county where their mother resides to carry out shared parenting visitation. Will this be a problem? Landlord will have my last months rent & security deposit that I would like to recoupe to offset relocation costs. Is that realistic?

Nope. Especially not in Florida. Unless there is a buyout clause in your lease, the landlord could hold you responsible for the remainder of the lease. They don't have to try and rent it out again. You basically have three options:

    1) negotiate a release or a buyout with the landlord
    2) sublet
    3) find a successor tenant the landlord approves of.
