I work overseas. Child support issue.
    Hi,

I work overseas and my girlfriend claiming that she has a son from me. I dispute paternity. Can they force me to come to the state to do the paternity test? Knowing that the country I am in right now is not part of the Hague Convention. Therefore, there is no jurisdiction or power over the court systems between the two countries. Also, in case I am the father, then I would not mind to pay child support. However, how can the dshs system find out about my salary without me disclosing it?

    Thanks

Do you legally reside in the U.S. or in the other country? If you file taxes in the U.S. they can find out what ever they want about you. The judge can order a paternaty test but why wouldn't you want to find out anyway?

This is contradictory. If you want to support YOUR child then you want to know for sure whether its yours.

As for support. A support order can be filed against you and if you ever come back to the states it coulfd be enforced.

I do want to pay child support if he is my child... however, I am not in a position where I can go back to the state to have dna testing done right now. And I am wondering if the court can force me to go back on their own term... or can wait till I am ready to go back and can take a leave from my work.

The court can set a date and if you do not appear, they can award the other parent what she asks for basically.

Also if the company you work for, is a US based company or a company with offices in the US, other issues may aply as to the rights to serve that company at the US office.
