I need to know how to check and see if I am adopted. I have suspected for years that my "parents" are not my true parents. There are several things that have made me think this.
1) The foot prints on my birth record are far to large to be those of a newborn.
2) There are no pictures of me before I could walk, but there are a lot of pictures of my "sister" as an infant and toddler.
3) My "parents" have always treated me more as a liability and servant than as a daughter.
4) My "parents" have told me several times that they only have one daughter and it isn't me.
5) I don't look like anyone in my "family"
6) My "sister" and I have the same birthday exactly 2 years apart.

Any help that anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

PS. My "mother" is dead and my "father" refuses to tell me anything about my childhood. Also none of my "aunts" and "uncles" will tell me anything either.
I will be 36 later this year.

If your parents won't tell you, have you asked other family members?

There is no way to start a search if you don't get some information from your parents, if indeed you are adopted.

You also can not initiate a search until you are 18--how old are you?
