Garnishing wages of current wife for child support
I just got married. My husband's ex wife is garnishing his wages for child support. He has agreed but she keeps threatening that if he gets laid off that the attorney general will garnish my wages! Can she do this? I have 2 kids of my own and get no child support, please help!

What State? Board just had a big discussion on this in Pennsylvania. She can't garnish your wages; however, in some States she can get support ordered based on household income - which, of course, includes your salary.

No. You has no legal obligation to pay your husband child support. Neither your wages nor your bank accounts can be garnished unless your have joint accounts. If so, the bank accounts can be garnish. I did research through the internet and find no such thing throughout the states.

To be on the safe side, it's best to call your local county to find out if your wages can be garnish or, if possible, give them a visit. Speak to more than 1 person.
