    Harbor Breeze Remote Issue
I have three ceiling fans that I installed a couple of years ago with the remote control. I had them all set to the same freq. so one remote contolled them all and I have had not problems until now.

After leaving for a week on vacation we got back and none of the three fans will respond to the remote control. Changed the battery, checked the AC feed and freq. ID numbers.

Is there a "reset" button on the receive unit (I did not see one when I was checking)?

Any ideas what is going on?

    Thanks!!

If none of the three fans are responding, it sounds like an issue with the remote. Try a replacement universal remote. It's also possible a power surge fried all three receivers.

Thanks for the suggestions. I failed to mention I tried the other two remotes (which had been just sitting in a drawer) with no success. Three fried receivers is not what I wanted to hear :(

So there is no hidden reset button on the receivers?

No reset button that I know of. Three broken receivers sounds like quite the coicidence, but a power surge could cause it. I have no other theories. Try bypassing the receivers one at a time to make sure the fans still have power.

I recently bought a house with harbor breeze ceiling fans in each room. The other day the one in my bedroom stopped working, the remote won't turn the light on and my ceiling fan is stuck on. We tried changing the batteries in the remote and its not that what else could be going on??

    Does it have pullchains?

Not the one I'm having problems with no, but all the other ones do... now the remote to my living room ceiling fan isn't working.

Check the dip switches first, but usually if a fan won't respond it is a fried receiver. If the fan has pullchains you can bypass the receiver.

How do I check the dip switches? And what can I do to repair a fried receiver?

The link I posted has instructions for checking the dip switches.

You just replace the receiver with another one from the manufacturer.

I don't see where the dip switches are on the ceiling fan where would be the best bet to look?

90% of the time they're in the canopy at the ceiling.

I have one Harbor Breeze about 2 years old and I too have an issue with the remote. The original battery went dead over the first winter when I wasn't using the fan. I bought a second battery and it did not work. Went to Radio Shack, taking the remote with me and got another battery. The remote lit up and I thought everything was a go. Brought it home, tried it out, and everything seemed fine. A few hours later I happened to notice the remote in it's holder on the wall was lit up. I tried to get it to turn off by pushing buttons and playing with the battery. It finally turned off, but now I cannot get it to turn back on. Does that sound more like the remote is the problem... I don't know what to think.

If you cannot get the LED in the remote to light up, then it is an issue with the remote.
