Hi,

I'm pretty sure this movie was released in the mid 80's, I'm not certain of the plot but it involved earth being occupied by some sort of alien invaders that used giant mechs/robots.
I can remember the main hero of the film being invited to some sort of testing facillity, where he is given a redish truck thing, that he soon learns can turn into a mech. (I might be wrong about that bit)
I can remember him getting into a fight (using the mech) against about 5 giant robot things early in the film, before he know's how to use the mech properly, and I can remember him being advised to "use his karate" which he does to great effect.
Also remember him fighing a giant mech crab thing.
There was a love interest in the film as well, I think she mite of been an alien/humanoid? Not sure?
I can remember one scene where someone is at a hospital? And there's a camera shot from outside, it's pretty windy, and the flowers in the hospital gardens are blowing around, on one side I think there yellow, and when the wind changes direction there pink? Does this sound familiar to you?? Please some one help me!!

I've come across robotech a couple of times in my search, at 1st I thought that was it, but now I'm fairly certain it's not as robotech apparently was a TV series. What I saw as child was a movie.
Was there a robotech movie? If so do you recall any of the scenes I described?
