    Lighthouse optics
I have a homemade lighthouse at my residence. It is aprox. 7' tall and looks very nice. I am not satisfied with the light inside. I am hoping to find someone to communicate with in hopes of finding a better solution. I would send you photos and sketches. I have been thinking about fresnel lenses, among other things. If you can help, email me at [email protected]
    Thanks,

Are you looking for a strong powerful light beam that will actually go out quite some distance or a light that "looks" like a light house light but doesn't really need to function or does the light house light need to both function as a strong light AND look like a lighthouse light, and to what detail if it does?

For the 7 foot tall lighthouse, there are many options depending on what you want. There are many economical lighting systems that can be purchased that can go straight in, but chances are you would be more satisfied if you modified a lamp. Some are sophisticated, some are simple like simply having a focused lamp shine at a mirror held at a 45 degree angle and rotated. I often like to just design and build my own systems from scrap, spare parts or old odds and ends laying around the house. If your are handy with small construction techniques, there are many options available. Budget of course is a major factor in what type of "Lamp" is used or constructed.
