    Bearing removal of small engine
    Hello
I am trying to replace piston and rings in 3 hp briggs engine and on the crankshaft side without the flywheel there is a ball bearing that I can not get off and I don't want to damage the crank. Any suggestions? Would a puller work without damage?

    Thanks

Remove the bottom housing of the engine and the crankshaft will pull out, after removing the flywheel and unfastening the connecting rod. There's no need to pull that bearing.

In fact, just remove the head, unfasten the connecting rod, and the piston should come right out. I don't think there's really any reason to remove the crankshaft, if you just want to replace the rings.

Go to Briggs & Stratton's website and you can print out a manual for your model engine.
