    Fitting bathtub drain
I'm fitting a bathtub drain with abs and welding the pieces together. When it comes to fitting it to the p-trap riser that's threaded do I need to use teflon tape ?
    Thanks for any help

I have been in the plumbing field for a little over 14 yrs and my recommendation is pipe dope instead of teflon tape. Pipe dope is a compound (sometimes made with teflon) that helps seal threads longer and will make leaks much less likely. I use Rector Seal w/ Teflon and it is sold at every hardware store and comes in a handy can with brush built in top so it is not messy.

If the fitting on the raiser's a desanco ,(compression fitting) Then the threads do not need Teflon Tape or PipeCompound. Regards Tom
