You'll need to have a three pronged appraoch to getting rid of them. I remember the hellish summer when all of our dogs and us and our entire house had fleas, it was the worst - first thing is to get a petsafe flea spray and do all the carpets, drapes, sofas - anything soft and all the cracks around baseboards especially if you've got wooden floors ASAP. If you spray the house you might not have to do the dogs, but this works best if you do the house, then a few days later get revolution or some other drops, pills, or shampoo and use on all your dogs - in the same day. You'll want to spray the area around your washer/dryer and the bottom of your closets and where your hampers are as well. Then, if you've got a fenced yard or a yard your dogs go out in that has to be sprayed as well. Honestly, good luck! Once we got the fleas in the house killed and sprayed the yard and shampooed the dogs twice with flea shampoo and flea dip(check instructions!) the buggers were gone in less than a month. Since then we haven't had a since flea in the house, though there are occasional ones on the dogs(2 per year max and they usually pick them up at the vet!) the fleas die because the carpet is sprayed.

Best stuff IMO: Advantix. Advantage is also good, but doesn't do ticks.

Your best bet is to take them both to the vets, they always use the best defleaing sprays and its quite cheap to they normally offer deworming with this too.

The ONLY way to eradicate the problem is by using a once a month flea product available at a vet that is put on the dog's skin like Advantage. I remember the "old days" of trying to control fleas with out these products and treating the dogs with topicals and dips, along with spraying the yard and the house. I only knocked the fleas down, but never eradicated them. It was an ongoing battle. Now with the once a month products like Advantage, I do not need to treat the yard or house. Without a host, the fleas there die. And I only have to use the product about every three months. As soon as I see a flea on the dog, I apply it and have been flealess for many years now. Any other treatment other than the monthly product like Advantage is like living in the dark ages.
