    Light switch not working
My husband is replacing the light switched to a more modern color. We have one light that can be turned on from two different switches. Now this light will not turn on. First it would turn on from one swith, and from the other swith it would make a noise like if it was shocking, now there is no noise and the light will not turn on. What could we have done wrong? Do these things have a fuse that maybe a fuse was burned?
    Thanks for any help. Bea:)

If switched from 2 locations, and only worked on 1 switch, it could be the "Hot End", or the "Switched End".
2 Travellers connect between the 2 switches, however 1 end has a constant hot to the common terminal, not the 2 same colored screws on switch.
And the other has the hot that goes to the light(switched end).
If you have a meter, disconnect the newly installed switch.
Determine which of the 3 is hot, identify, go to other switch and switch positions(from up to down OR down to up), If same wire is hot with other in both positions, then connect that hot to common terminal on 3 way.
If it is the Light End or "Switched End", then connect all three together together(3 wires at 3 way switch) and bulb should work if good.
If bulb works, then: that switch MAY be bad or wrong connections.
To determine the 2 travellers, remove that switch, see which is hot, and identify, switch other switch position, see which is hot, that is 2 travellers and go to same 2 colored screws, that last wire should go to light, providing power to their should light the bulb, if good.
