    Bad checks
In the state of Georgia, is there a statute of limitations on bad checks? How long does a retailer have to file charges?

I don't know of any limitation on a retailer collecting on a bad check.

If is has not been paid, keep trying to collect it.

I do believe however, that if the check is under $500, criminal charges must be filed within 2 years, and if it is a felony, or over $500, charges must be filed within 4 years.

I'm not 100% on that, but I'd say maybe 95%.

Yes, it will depend on the size of the check, and I think that the 2 to 4 years is correct.

And that is for the criminal charges they have longer to press civil charges for collectons.
