    Dog behaviour
I have 2 dogs. The 1st is a springer spaniel who is scared of other dogs, apart from her sister, and when other dogs approach squeels and tries to bite them in fear, why is this? She is 2.

The other is a jack russell 5 years old who was bought for my partner by a family member. She constantly grumps for no reason, its like really annoying back ground noise, is very disobedient unless it is something she wants, will not eat hardly anything, therefore she is sick, and is pushy for attention constantly. I am sorry to say I don't feel very keen of this dog, even though I have had her for 3 years.

I am currently pregnant with my 1st child and cannot apprehend how I am to cope with lack of sleep, a baby and a constantly grumpy and attention seeking dog. Help!

For your Springer, a recommendation from your Veterinarian for a Behavourist might be the course best taken. Socialization under controlled circumstances with submissive dog(s) may reassure her there is nothing to fear. Her behavior won't change overnight, and often worsens without professional guidance. Try a web search of "solutions for the fear biting dog" for a few sensible resources.

Your Jack Russell should see your Veterinarian for a complete physical to rule out any possible pain causing condition. You are your pets voice, so please prepare by making a list of behavior, habits, food and treats, etc. If those results are clear, vist a canine Allergist. Her food or certain environmental conditions may be triggering reactions, causing her grumbling and cranky demeanor. Once her ailment/allergy is identified and treated, you may possibly have a wonderful dog on your hands!
