    Back taxes and US Passport
Recently I have been told by one service that helps with passport process that owing back taxes can keep you from renewing your passport. Along with back child support and non payment of a student loan. From another service I was told only back child support over a certain amount prevents a person from obtaining a passport. Even though I just read your response to a similar question, which stated back taxes do not keep you from getting a passport, I am still confused about this matter. I am asking for help in answering this question, for greater clarification. I want to thank you in advance for your help.

In my opinion, the tax issue and passport renewal are NOT linked.

However, a simple phone call to the office that issues the passports will get you a straight answer.
