I have leaking roof on my old house in the woods. The roof is shigles covered with tar paped.
I know that I should replace the leaking shingels covered with tar paper, but as I am short of money, I need to recover tha existing tar paper with something, tar paper or what ?

I cannot find the leak in any obvious way.

If you can't afford to fix it right, I guess put more tar paper up there, or you could pour tar on the shingles to seal it. See this link.
