    Child Support
Hi all I just meed a little advice... I need to know how child support works. My boyfriend and I were doing very well until I found out I was pregnant, then he started being so terrible... coming in at 4 in the morning, other girls calling, etc. It got to the point where I had to kick him out of my apartment now he's moved out of state and at first I promised myself that if he wouldn't help then I wasn't going to force him to be apart of my child's life but everything is so expensive and its very hard to buy things for my child when your showing and no one wants to hire you.. And I just found out he was arrested but I'm not sure for what... Does this mean he'll get away with not buying anything or helping to support our child?

You need to first establish paternity after the baby is born and then file for child support and full custody. If you don't know an address for him the court should be able to track him down for the support.

I think he'll give up his parental rights but would he not have to pay child support then?

He can't just give up his rights. He can possibly do everything he can to TRY to prevent being proven he is the father like running, hiding and refusing the test but once paternity is proven he can not get out of owing child support.

OK thank you for your help... It just seems so unfair that he can just walk away like that

Do whatever it takes to go after him.

As pointed out he can't just sign over his rights. You do have to wait until the baby is born then you can go to court and file for support. The judge will first order a paternitey test, once that comes back positive then a child support order and a visitation order will be put in place.
