    Fixing an enamel tub
My mother's tub has a hole rusted through it... its an old rectangular enamel finished tub... might be a steel or cast iron not sure.. I thinks its steel because the hole isn't that deep and I can almost my finger through it... pretty sure cast iron is much stronger... any way to repair this short of replacing it?thanks for any advice..

You can attempt to Bondo and sand it smooth. You have a steel tub that's on its last legs. My advice? Give it a nice send off and then replace it.

Just as something to try if you love the tub: There's an enamel product that comes in bottles that's designed for sinks and tubs like that. Around here both Lowe's and HomeDepot carry it. It doesn't result in a perfect finish, but for a couple bucks it's at least worth a try.
