My daughter received a notice to appear in Tampa for possession of alcohol by person under 21. Is an attorney necessary; anyone familiar with the outcomes/ consequesnces.
The person that provided the alcohol would have the more serious charges.
IN my state she would most likely get a fine and have to take classes
And she may possibly get a suspension put on her drivers license that would go into effect when she gets her license (if she hasn't gotten one yet) But I think that is given if she was also intoxicated.
An attorney is never a bad idea, the main thing is to try and get the case dismissed or a program where this will not be on their record. For example in 10 years when trying for a good job, they don't get it because this is on their record.
Often if this is a first offense they can try to get the case dismissed after doing some community service and paying costs.
