    Please help~~!
Hello. I really don't know what to do and somehow I found this forum. I really hope I could some answers from here. Last Friday, I got into an accident. No other car involved just me. This car cuts me off and I thought I tapped on the brake but I guess it was hard enough for me to hydroplaned and hit the wall. Unfortunately, I couldn't renew my insurance due to money issue. I was going to renew them this week when I get my pay check. The problem is I leased that vehicle. The bodyshop where my car is now said is pretty much totaled. The question is what really going to happen from now? I am going to call my lease but I would like to know at least some idea as to what is going to happen from this point on. Should I do something first before calling the lease company? Please help. Hopelessly lost. Would love some advices. Thank you in advance. :(

The first thing I would check is if your insurance actually expired. Just because a payment was due doesn't mean the policy lapsed. If the policy did not lapse, get that payment in immediately.

If the policy period did pass, then the next step is to contact the leasing company and see if they had some coverage. If they didn't, you are in a bad position. Basically you will owe the leasing company for the car.

I tried just to commet on the post but it told me to spead the reputation around ( sorry scott)

But Scott fairly well said it, either hopefully you will still have some insurance, or the lease company was notified you did not have insurance and put mandatory insurance. But as said, basically if not, you owe them for the car.

Thank you for your response. My insurance was the first thing I checked and they won't do anything about it. But I do remember about the "Gap insurance" through my lease company just in case." I am not sure what that does and how will that effect this situation.
