    Dial up box
When I log on to widnows (WIN ME) the internet connection box opens as well. I don't know why but it's not a pain because I usually do want to connect to the net. BUT.. sometimes I don't want to go on the net so I cancel or close the box. Then after say 5 or 10 minutes it appears again. It mostly happends when I'm, say, copying a heavy files from a CD to my folder and it takes 10 minutes. I have to close the box at least twice. Or when I'm runnig the virus scan or disc scan etc. how do I stop the dial-up connection box popping up?
    Thanks

    Dial up box
What program is running that is trying to access the internet? It sounds like Outlook possibly since it starts up again after a few minutes. Check to see what program it is & disable that program from starting up.

Sm, this is what you do:

Go to "TOOLS" at top of IE browser. When the drop-down box opens, scroll down to "Internet Options".

    Click on CONNECTIONS tab.

Then, select NEVER DIAL A CONNECTION, and click on APPLY, then OK.

Stopping IE from dialling a connection is definitely a good idea elina but I think what coreybryant is trying to say is what is the cause of the problem?

My guess is some kind of advertising/spyware software. The reason it would be asking you to connect is so it could load up an advertising webpage.

Two programs that are handy to elimate problems like this are:

    Ad-aware can be found at:
    http://www.tucows.com/preview/236049.html

And Spybot S&D can be found at:
    http://security.kolla.de/

I hope that helps you fix the problem.

    SCUD :)
