    Home thermostats
    Hi All
My dad has an old house. The cable of the thermostat is 5 wires.
My question is, can you config from 5 wires to 3 wires. (Because I relocated the thermostat, I ask Home Depot guy to get me the cable the can extend to a differint location). He told me that Ionly need 3 wires for the new programmable thermostat.
It is corrected. Then please direct me. How can I hook up my new digtial thermostat?
    Thanks in advanced.

    Terminals on old stat?
    Terminals on new stat?

Model number of each or link to manuals?

Guess the home depot guy gets a talking to. I know of one stat that works with 3 wires.
Thermostat wire comes in 10 conductor.
