2 Criminal Traffic Violations. Will this affect me from being hired?
Hi,

Last year I was charged for Driving While License Suspended (I was not arrested but I still got the ticket) and for unlawfully altering tag (the sticker indicating the expiration date was partially scratched off). It was irresponsible but of course like most of us, we learn from our mistakes.

I am graduating from college in a year and I wanted to know whether this kind of charge will appear in a criminal background check since it is a traffic violation. If so will it prevent me from getting a job (one that does not involve driving).. Also, should I be straight forward with my employer about the incident before he does a background check?

No, they should not as they were misdemeanors and not felonies. It's the felonies you have to be concerned about following you around. Background checks don't go into traffic citations.

Posting twice does not get quicker replies. It looks like there are only 2 legal experts on at this time and may be not looking at the place(s) where you posted yet.

Since you want a quick answer. I THINK your DMV violation/citation is separate than a criminal record other than if it involves drugs or a DUI so as long as you are not looking for a job as a driver then I would think it would NOT affect your chances of being hired.

I wouldn't worry about telling them unless it would be on your criminal record which there are places you can check to see your criminal history. My county you go to the City County website to look it up

I see one of the law experts got to you before I got to the submit button.

Sorry for spamming, figured that I would get a lot more responses under this forum rather than the criminal law forum.
