2 Criminal Traffic Violations. Prevent me from getting hired?
    Hi,

Last year I was charged for Driving While License Suspended (I was not arrested but I still got the ticket) and for unlawfully altering tag (the sticker indicating the expiration date was partially scratched off). It was irresponsible but of course like most of us, we learn from our mistakes.

I am graduating from college in a year and I wanted to know whether this kind of charge will appear in a criminal background check since it is a traffic violation. If so will it prevent me from getting a job (one that does not involve driving).. Also, should I be straight forward with my employer about the incident before he does a background check?

The traffic ticket is in lieu of arrest - if you had not appeared there would have been a warrant issued for you. It's a form of arrest.

Were you found guilty, entered a guilty plea, fined, put on probation?

Need more info - and I find more and more applications which asked "have you ever been arrested," not "have you ever been found guilty ..." There was just a question about professional licenses which ask specifically about ALL arrests, including traffic, no matter what the disposition.

This is one of those who knows questions, in some states traffic tickets show up as part of the criminal history, in others the company has to run a specific MVR ( drivers report) to see tickets for moving violation.
Such as speeding, but also how your state views driving while suspended.

It to some employors will show a lack or responsibility, not following the rules, so if you break that rule, you would break company rules

So what you need is to run a criminal history on yourself and also see if your state has a court history web site where all court action is shown.
You run several searches on yourself and see what you can find, then you know what they can find
