Hi, I am so sorry I keep asking questions about dentistry. It's my ultimate "struggle" these days. I need a lot of work done, so I hope you guys don't mind with my questions. I suffered from an eating disorder for a couple years (and my genes were already blessed with not-so-perfect-teeth in first place) which is the reason why I have to have SOOO much work done now (and no I didn't tell my dentist this because it humiliates me and would probably make him uncomfortable).

ANYWAY

I have completely maxed out my insurance plan AND flex plan this year. I have 2 teeth that hurt very bad right now, but are not in my "smile" line if that makes sense. Would it be possible to extract these 2 teeth and then do bridges on them next year? Or, can you only wait a certain amount of time before one may get a bridge done?

You can have bridges done at any time. You have to remember though that the longer you leave the space the greater the chance is that the teeth on either side may move into it causing more of a problem for replacing the lost tooth.

You have to find out what is causing the pain. Is it decay, root exposure, cracked tooth, bite or abscess?
You may not have to have the teeth removed.

If it's decay, ask the dentist if he could put a temporary filling or a sedative filling in it to buy you some time.

If it's a bite issue, all it will take is a minor adjustment to the tooth to settle it right down.

If it's root exposure, you can use Sensodyne or have the dentist apply a desensitizing agent to the root that is exposed.

A cracked tooth or abscess may be the only reasons you may want to consider having the teeth extracted.

First of all tell your dentist everything.. hes probably seen it all and everything is confidential... it may help in the treatment... DONT get teeth extracted unless necessary... bridges are not that great... you're better off with root canals and crowns
