    Hot water pipe blockage
    Hi

I was wondering if somebody can help me with a blocked hot water pipe problem.I'm asking if there is something I can pour in a hot water system in Ireland to remove a blockage in a hot water pipe. The blockage is only in the hot pipe going to the kitchen sink tap.

This should be moved to the plumbing page. Having said that, I need more details. Sorry! There is no "magic potion" you can pour down the pipe to clear it. It's got to be flushed out. Is it the faucet you're complaining about? If so you will need to shut the water off and open up the faucet, pull the cartridge and check and clean the inlet ports. Now, before you reassemble, turn the water on for a minute to flush out the pipe and the faucet. Reassemble and test, good luck. Tom

I agree with Tom on both points, we will get this moved and there is not potion to pour into the pipe. I suspect your hot valve or cartridge at that sink is blocked with crud.

    Hi guys

Thanks for the input, but I've already changed the kitchen sink tap.It looks as if I'm going to have to take another branch off the hot tap in the adjacent bathroom.Have any of you removed blockages in water pipes using an air compressor?

That's going to depend on what's blocking the pipe and the material the pipe's made of. Since you've failed to give us many details, (type of pipe, how old?" Hard water in your area? How long has the problem been ongoing?) good stuff like that, then we've gone about as far as we can go. Good luck, Tom

It's 1/2' Qualpex (plastic) pipe,I'm not sure how old and there's no hard water in the area.As for the blockage, who knows, but it wouldn't surprise me if it entered the cold supply pipe from the CWSC to the hot water cylinder.Maybe a small mouse.Anyway, maybe the first thing I'll do is flush out the hot water supply pipework using mains water pressure.
