    Rafter issue
I have a lady on a fixed income. With an 70 year old rafter roof. What are my options on fixing most of the sagging rafters and putting on a metal roof?
Can I add new decking and go for it?Load wise?
Do I need to tear it off and scab everything. Then deck it.
What is going to be the cheapest way for this lady?

Hard to say. What is the span and pitch. Is it a gable roof? How big are the rafters? How far apart? How much sag? Could you straighten them up with a jack and sister them? Is there enough room to work in the attic? Are you sure the sagging is just the rafters, or is the whole house crooked?

I do like the fact that you want to help the lady out.

pitch I think 7/12. One small gabiel.true 2x10.span 15 ft plus pitch. Bad sag for old leaks.
upstairs is finished.walls and foundation are really plum for an old house.

Well after speaking to an enginer. I found that scabing is within the load capacity.I was hoping to just work it out by decking with 1 inch ply. That would have been the jack leg solution.Any tips or ideads are still well received.

You will need a permit for this type of work so ask your building inspector what he will and will not approve. The cheapest short cut is worthless if the inspector turns it down.

Once you rate someone you must rate 5 other folks before you can come back to the same person. They did this to stop folks from getting into a wee wee match.
