Is the 1041 Form Schedule K-1 actually supposed to be attached to the Federal Income Tax Return when filed, or merely retained within one's tax files?

Schedule K-1 is part of the 1041 Estate tax return. It is attached with 1041.

It is not attached with individual income tax return.
