    First you will need to refer to your setup instructions from your mail service company. Is it Hotmail? GMail? Yahoo? SBC? Earthlink? What? Everyone of those companies will have a web page listing their MAIL SETTINGS you need to put in your Outlook Express.

    Here's a generic setup step-by-step. You will need to customize your answers, but here is where you find the questions:
    =====================
    What are settings for email?

    Receiving and sending email requires you to setup your mail program to check for mail and direct your mail for forwarding.

    The receiving of email is done through the POP3 setting.

    The sending of email is done through the SMTP setting.

    ===============
    How do I change or add settings?

    The procedure for changing the settings is simple.
    • Click on Tools
    • Select Accounts
    • Click on the Mail tab
    • Double-Click on on email account that is already setup
    • Click on the Servers tab
    • In the box Incoming mail (POP3) settings, verify the correct pop3 server is listed from the information gathered from your email company's website.
    • In the box Outgoing mail (SMTP) settings, verify the correct pop3 server is listed from the information gathered from your email company's website.
    • Click on Apply
    • Click on OK

    ================
    NOTE: Sometimes you get email from a different source than you get internet service. In that case, you might have to use your email provider's POP3 server to get mail, but have to use your Internet Service Provider (ISP) SMTP server to send mail.

    For instance, you have Earthlink for an ISP, but you don't use their email accounts, you use another company, let's call it Bobmail.

    POP3 = mail.bobmail.com
    SMTP = mail.earthlinksmtp.com

    See, settings from two different companies. You'll have to verify whether you can use your email server to SEND email if you don't get internet service from them, too.
