Parents force me to go to church?
I was born into a christian family, and attended church regularly with the family. But, I just seemed to grow out of the christianity religion and overtime just became agnostic. I haven't told my family, because they would probably blame my friends and wouldn't let it go. My parents still force me to go to church, and I've told them many times that I don't want to go, but they do not care. I've dropped hints that I don't believe in their god and whatnot, but they won't pick up on it.
Should I just keep going to church with them or man up and tell them that I'm not a christian?

I tend to believe that spirtuality is a very individual thing. Depending on your age you may have to just appease your parents at this time. When you are an adult the decision is solely yours.

What is your age, if for example my kids, if you were under 18, living in my home, you did what I said, there was not "choice" if I told them to go some place

I agree with the others. Even if you tell them that you do not believe they may make you go anyway believing they are doing what is in your best interest and their duty as a good parent. I would say that you probably should just continue to go to please your parents. Maybe bring up legitimate reasons you find it hard to believe and in time they might realize that them dragging you to church isn't going to make you a believer. If you try to get out of going they could feel that you NEED to go all the more because they will feel obligated to 'get you to believe'.

You parents are responsible for you until you become of age. You have to do what they tell you. :)

So if his parents tell him he has to go anyway how is he going to choose?

If his parents tell him to go, he will decide he wants to go. Or he will go anyway but not have any computer, music and be grounded till the next coming.

That's indeed the most probable scenario...
But it also shows that parents with their parential powers can force their children to church against their will.
    A kind of brainwashing...

So a parent tells their kids they have to abide by their rules as long as their kids are in their house is brainwashing? The kid believes what he believes even so so it doesn't sound like brainwashing. If anything using punishment would more than likely cause a rebellious attitude and have the opposite effect of REALLY not believing.

YES!! Anyone who is misusing his/her position of advantage to enforce a specific view onto others is sort of brainwashing.

Not brain washing, just good parenting, you keep the kids on the correct path reqardless of what the child wants.

You may believe that, just as I may believe it is not the "correct path" but brain-washing.

Sounds like the OP depending on his parents may be out of luck. I personally would think that forcing religion on your children is a good way to make your children turn away from religion. Then again the process of telling people the same information over and over again has had good success in getting people to believe almost anything regardless of what they originally believe works especially well for children.

To the OP your probably going to have to just suck it up and go till your out of their house. It doesn't hurt you to go. Just look at it as an hour a week to make your parents happy. Do your research and know why you believe what you do. There is a lot of information available to you online.
