9 and a half week old puppy bleeding when pooing
    Hi

I am looking for some advise, I bought a westie off a breeder on Tuesday and when I got her home I noticed she was bleeding when she was pooping. I phoned the breeder back and she told me it is probably because the dog is unsettled and to give he a couple of days.

I have done this and this is still happening, I phoned the breeder back oday and she has told me it might be because I might be making her food up slightly different from the way they make it I could be making it more watery or not watery enough and her stomach will be unsettled which has caused a couple of blood vessels somewhere to pop. She is sending me a liquid stuff that I have to give her through a syringe and she says that that should help clear it up according to the vet card she has been wormed.

Can anyone tell me if this could happen or are they just spinning me a line.

I have a vets appointment next week for her second jags but is there anything I can do before this

    Thanks

My guess would be worms. Sometimes in a small puppy a few little worms can cause that. Also, it could be something serious like the liver or kidney's not working right. The best bet is to see the vet and he can tell you what's going on.

Could be hookworms... they will poop blood when they have them.
    Parvo also causes bloody stools.
I would say if the dog strained when pooing it is possible to break a vessel or if too many stools in a day or to... but my gut feeling is that that is a line their feeding you, if it was my pup I would be at the vet asap.

    Hey everyone

Thanks for all the answers , I took my puppy to the vet and they have advised me that I have been feeding her the wrong amounts that I had got told by the breeder and that the food (puppy pedigree chum) was probably too rich for her. I have now changed her feeding habits and her food and everything is now normal.
