    Unwed Fathers Rights
I am a single mom and not planning on putting the fathers name on the BC. Does this limit his rights?

He's not the father until DNA testing is done or until you allege he's the father and no one questions it.

Why are you not putting his name on the birth certificate?

You cannot collect Court ordered support unless he's the legal father.

Our relationship was short term and is very explosive. He knows he's the father but I would rather do it on my own.

It limits his rights until he tries to exercise them. If he decides he wants to be the father, then he simply has to get a paternity test and voilą, he's the legal father.

If you ever need (not want but need) to apply for public assistance, then will insist that you list the father and they will go after him.

Then don't put him on and he has no rights at all unless he takes you to Court to be acknowleged the father (DNA testing).
