Hi All,

I bought 2 vessel faucets for my Glass Vessel Sinks. One works perfect the other when the single handle lever is moved to the left (HOT) it just pours out slowly, but the cold is ripping through. I took off the hoses from the 1/4 turn shutoff and tested it and it's at 50 PSI. There is nothing in the lines blocking it, I teems to be in the faucet. My question is: Is the mixer in the Vessel Faucet defective? Is this common, is this a known issue with cheaper vessel faucets. Is it repairable myself? I kick myself in the A$$ buying all Grohe and skimping out and buying a China made Vessel Faucet knockoff, you get what you pay for!

Also, the mixer seems very loud, when on, and the volume of water is WAY to high. Is there an in-line reducer that can be bought.

Sounds like some trash got into the hot water inlet ports of the cartridge and it's blocking the flow. Shut the water off to the faucet and op[en it up. Check and clean the inlet ports on the cartridge. Now turn the water back on for a minute to flush out the supplies and the open valve body.

Would this high pressure be throughout the entire house of just the one faucet? Regards, Tom

Yes, I'm going to check the body of the faucet tonight. Yes the pressure is pretty strong throughout the whole house, but these mixers are loud and I want to reduce the pressure anyway, because if you crank the water on you get a wet spot on your pants, and we all know how that feels :))

To reduce volume and pressure Turn the faucet on and go under the counter top and turn the angle stops clockwise until the desired pressure's reached. Good luck. Tom

Well, it ended up that there was an actual clog of some sort way up at the top of the vessel faucet, like a bit of rag, it was blocking the mixer. The faucet is still very loud, even after cranking the 1/4 turn stop valve very low. I guess cheap faucets have cheap/poor designs which cause the mixer create annoying sounds. Beware cheap knockoffs. Hope this helps others.

Glad you got your faucet working. Now let's address your house pressure.
The average house PSI is 45 PSI, (that's why water towers are 100 feet tall)
If your pressure's too high it will put a strain on joints, valvea and faucets and make them noisy.
Purchase a hose bib gage,(see image)and check your house pressure. If it's 80 PSI or hgigher then if you don't have a PRV,( Pressure Reducing Valve) installed then consider installing one. If you have a PRV valve installed then set your pressure lower. Good luck, Tom
