Double Taxation Avoidance Treaty - Document requirements and rates
How is income tax calculated if Double Taxation Avoidance Treaty is applied. I was outside India for not more than 182 days and hence not eligible for NRI status in India. I also had income in India from my job in India for the last quarter of the year. I have also paid tax for my income at my country of residence for the salary income for the first three quarter of the year. Indian has signed DTAT with the country of my residence. On what rate will the income tax computed on the income I repatriate to India ? How is the income tax I paid in my country of residence, accounted in the tax calculation in India ? What are the documents required from my country of residence to be submitted in India along with my returns to consider the income tax I have paid out side India.
