The wireless signal goes through walls for a certain distance.
Some buildings and rooms within buildings are wireless unfriendly. It may simply be the construction of other things interfering. The only thing you can do is try.
We have that trouble. It is a manufacturing environment so there is a lot of concrete and steel. Having doors closed to a room will make no difference. It takes some really thick, dense materials to hinder the wireless signals, and even so, the distances are only shortened, so it is important to strategically place your access points. We put them mainly in our conference rooms and our overhead projectors and room microphones for the video conferencing are also wireless.
Leaded glass, and a well shielded building will give you a problem.
