    Paxil CR
I know this may sound like a silly question, but I am genuinly wondering:

I recently got started on a medication for social anxiety - Paxil CR (except I am taking the generic kind), and on the bottle it says "do not drink alcoholic beverages while taking this medication". I am planning on being on this medication for a while - at least a year. I have always gone out with friends to drink, not heavily or anything. Just a few drinks with friends every once in a while. I take this medication at 8 am every morning. Does this mean do not drink while initially taking the pill in the morning, or do not take at all while the medication is in your system? If I am unable to have a few drinks anymore, I will likely switch medications. Thanks for your help!

It means do not drink at all while on this medication. You see, the med stays in your blood stream for quite a while, mixing alcohol and antidepressants is a dangerous mixture.
