AC unit turns off before set temperature reached
I have a 13 SEER RUUD heat pump 4 ton size in my Florida house. It it 4 years old with a programmable Hunter 43154 thermostat. The unit is coming on periodically and blowing cool air, but it turns off before the set temperature is reached. The thermostat says the room is 88 degrees. We have it set for 80 degrees but it's turning off before cooling down even 2 degrees. We reset and reprogrammed the thermostat and then called Hunter and they say it's the AC unit not the thermostat. I'm not sure whether to believe them or not. Please advise whether it's the AC unit or thermostat and if it's the AC what it might be. Is it anything we can fix ourselves? Thanks

What your going to find her is that there is a very stromg negative opinion on Hunter stats. Shorting three wires together (assuming conventional) at the stat or furnace will keep the unit on forever. If it cools, it's the stat.

Need to know terminal connections to the stat.
